Modern Ravens

"The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook." 1 Kings 17:6

One cake and baby supplies.

Those were my assigned chip-in for Irene's baby shower yesterday. With only a handful of hundreds in my wallet and still four days before payroll, I dragged Tris to SM for the shopping list.

Our first stop was the diaper section. Imagine me struggling between one pack or two packs of nappies. Deep down, I know it wasn't just a choice whether my family will still eat or not. I know it was a test of generous giving. The monetary side was irrelevant.

And so, I grabbed two packs and brought it to the cashier. She asked for my Advantage Card and then said, "Ma'am, do you want you use your points? It can cover for all these?" It felt like my world went in slowmo and I heard God say, "I got this covered, child."

I was still in Cloud 9 praising God for His amazing provision when we were stopped by another raven. Lying there on the floor was one thousand bill. ONE THOUSAND! Remember we were in a crowded mall on a Sunday afternoon. Give it 5 seconds prior our coming and it wound have found an owner. But we knew it wasn't ours to take. And so we waited for 30 minutes for someone to look for it. When there was none, we took it as God's provision - not for us, but for Irene.

Irene is a single mom-to-be. Her pregnancy was a story of much grace and mercy. And this is another proof how God loves her and her baby so much. It's just a joy to be a witness of her story.
